Gloves on her hands, boots on her feet and a desire to fly.  The courage and fearlessness that goalkeepers must possess, to jump high and fall to the ground, from one goal post to the other, without fear. Francesca Durante, ACF Firenze’s goalkeeper born in ’97, wants to continue her flight after important saves with AC Fiorentina and with the Italian Women’s National Team.
Francesca will now fly 9000 miles to experience American soccer and a season with FC Tacoma 253, because when you are 18 it’s beautiful to dream, learn, and to experience how things work on the other side of the world. With FCT 253 there is a lot to do this summer, like win the WPSL- and Francesca knows that it can be done!

“I’m expecting a very different and exciting experience”, Francesca tells us. “I look forward to playing a different type of soccer and showing what I’ve got to the American league. I am young but I can play at the highest level. I don’t know the WPSL very well, but I’m sure FCT 253 will be able to achieve good results”.
Francesca Durante sees this experience with FC Tacoma 253 and the WPSL as a new challenge that she has to win. Like she did when she played the U17 Costa Rica World Cup where she saved several penalty kicks, which helped the Italian Women’s National Team come in third place.
After winning the bronze medal in the U17 World Cup and another bronze medal in the U17 European Cup, the goalkeeper, known in Italy as the ‘Baby Queen of the Posts’, will fly to the states. Francesca Durante now has goal posts to fly between in Seattle.

Francesca will join the team on June, 1st, missing the first two games of the 2015 WPSL season.
The rest of the FCT 253 team has been getting prepared by practicing and scrimmaging against local clubs like Seattle Sounders W.
FCT 253 will play it’s first WPSL games in a doubleheader weekend. Be ready for kick offs on May 30th, at 5pm and May 31st, at 1pm, both in the stadium at Starfire Sports.
