Sergio Martinez started playing as a midfielder for OSA 3 years ago. He’s been playing for Coach Filippo Milano since the AC Seattle men’s team and his personality is one of the best. He’s a smart player and performs well in alternating positions for the team.
He is trusted to use his versatility in many roles on the field and his game knowledge for the youth team he coaches. Adding a goal in his debut start for the NPSL season, his abilities are invaluable. He is one of the most improved players on the team, and Coach Milano is excited and looking forward to using him more in the next season. Sergio’s teammates like his drive and how focused he is in practice and in games. Prior to our club, he played at Trinity College in Washington and had a good season with them. We are highlighting Sergio publicly alone today because he needs you all to meet him. Diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, we are not leaving him alone. This form of cancer is frequent in pediatrics. Coach Milano is also a hematologist at the University of Washington. Although not his doctor, since the beginning, Coach Milano has followed the case along with Sergio’s doctors. After talking with Coach Milano, Sergio has started his chemotherapy treatments. The fight will be long, we love him, and we are family here at OSA.
