FOUR POINTS IN TWO GAMES FOR OSA WOMEN’S TEAM

Two games in the last weekend for OSA women’s team and four points more in the standing.
The girls won 5-0 against the Westside Timbers on Friday, then they tied 2-2 against the CU Diamonds on Sunday.

Below the recaps of the two games.

OSA women faced off against a young, but vibrant Westside Timbers on Friday night. The team, wearing red, is made up of mostly girls in High  School. OSA didn’t let that stop them from wanting to stay at the top of the table. We came to work and started off with a high tempo game to prove it. The positional interchangeability proved to be too much for the opponent as the OSA women went into the locker room at halftime with a 2-0 lead. In the second half our team continued to show their creativity and have fun with each other on the field as they played cheeky combinations through Westside. The final was 5-0. Four goals were scored by Kennya Cordner from various assisters and McKenzie Bean added one to the tally.

OSA competed against their toughest opponent of the season on Sunday. The CU Diamonds out of greater Portland traveled to French Field for a 3pm match. The team made up of mostly collegiate players scored first with a well struck shot. OSA goalkeeper Maggie R. made the initial save but the shot proved to be too hard to read with the sun behind it. OSA was able to answer before the half and tie up the game. Second half the ball moved around the pitch and OSA hit a few shots that did not get past the watchful eye of the CU Goalkeeper. OSA gave up a corner kick that CU was able to convert from on top of the box over outstretched second half goalkeeper Elisa R. OSA began to push for the last ten minutes of the game. There was a flurry of excitement and Justina M. whipped a cross into the box for a energized run by M’ily R. M’ily puts an authoritative head to the ball and the game is tied 2-2 just as the final whistle blows.

Be ready for the next game!
