Two games and two wins for OSA FC’s teams this weekend. Both the men’s and women’s squads won important games for their 2016 seasons.

The men won against their Northwest adversary, the Spartans. The OSA team went on the field with a very young squad (the average age was 20 years old) that was able to win a very hard-fought game. The final score was 2-0. A great victory that brought the team back in the standings.

On the other side, the women won 3-0, in their home game against the NSGSC. The OSA women have shown consistent play throughout the season to this point.  Last night was another example as they matched up against NGSC, from Vancouver, BC. The play was up tempo and there were some very exciting near goal moments, but at halftime the score remained 0-0. After another inspiring halftime talk by OSA coaching staff, lead by Head Coach Malia Arrant, the team came out with a new objective.  Kenya C. quickly went to work scoring within the first minute of the half on a ball from Lyndsey P.  A few moments later Courtney M. played a diagonal ball to flaring Chalise B. who took a touch to prep the ball before delivering it toward goal.  She struck it toward the face of the goal and the NGSC goalkeeper made a play toward it but was not able to make the play cleanly. Kenya C. was there to follow up and put the ball in the net.  The game was seemingly in hand, however NGSC continued to fight and create opportunities that were managed by OSA’s defense and second half goalkeeper Catie G. The final goal of the game came with about 12 minutes remaining in the game.  Courtney M. played a sweet ball up to Kenya C. who was working against a tough NGSC defender. With Kenya’s jersey in hand, the defender was doing everything she could to prevent Kenya from breaking free.  There was no choice but to take the longer shot, and Kenya C. placed it in the roof of the goal.
